Regional Development Umpire Contacts

The Hockey NZ Umpire Council has appointed eight regional development umpire contacts to assist in the coaching and development of umpires across the country. These people are highly involved in umpiring and officiating both in New Zealand and around the world. They should be used as a first contact point for new umpires, and also as a resource for established umpires.

Regional development activities will include:

  • Providing new umpires with information, resources and guidance 
  • Provide Associations within region with coaching resources 
  • Appointing umpires to regional activities and matches 
  • Servicing of regional coaching clinics 
  • Facilitate rule interpretation and theory exam sessions 
  • Issuing of junior gradings 
  • Facilitating Level 1 theory courses 
  • Conducting Level 1 practical gradings 
  • Liaise with national mentors regarding junior development and national tournament appointments 
  • Liaise with Hockey NZ Umpire Development Manger regarding umpire development and promotion
